I blinked....

It happened.  I blinked and my baby girl grew up.  Today she started Kindergarten.   Everyone tells you enjoy it, it goes by fast... and of course while you are in the moment -changing diapers, feeding, soothing the constant crying- you don't believe it.  Yes... in the blink of an eye, she grew up.

Abby, I am so proud of the little girl you have grown up to be.
The day you made me a mother for the first time seems like yesterday.
I remember the weather,
The feelings of anxiety and excitement,
The worried looks on Daddy's face,
Your grandparents waiting anxiously in the waiting room only to be sent home because you were taking too long.  23hrs later you entered our lives, our hearts, with those baby blue eyes of yours.
I remember them holding you over the curtain so I could see you for the very first time and my first thought was "Omg she looks like a doll.".
You were beautiful then and even more beautiful now.

I remember the months of colic,
The weekly visits to PT for your torticollis diagnosis and hip dysplasia,
Leaving you for the first time at day care when I went back to work,
Leaving you for the hospital stay that would give you a baby brother,
Your first steps and first words, spending a week potty training and you did so great.
All like it was just yesterday.

Your first day of preschool I cried because it was a new unfamiliar place.  There were tears this morning. (from Mommy- you did great!).
You are a big girl now.
You are confident and brilliant, friendly and loving.  You're a Kindergartener now!

There are many school years ahead of you... and I'm sure when you are off to college I'll be sitting here thinking about this day.  The day you started Kindergarten.. and think... I blinked, and you grew up.  I love you Abby and will always be so proud of everything you do.

Georges Island

I feel like it's been a crazy summer, lots going on... and yet I still can't believe it's almost over.  Yesterday we were able to take a time out and have a nice family day and head to Georges Island with the kids.  It was their first time on a boat.  They loved it! Loved seeing their smiles!

My boy especially loved exploring in the fort.  He was sure to remind us many times yesterday not to forget his flashlight!  My girl was a bit more skeptical.  Thanks to Daddy's story of the Lady in Black... a ghost story that intrigued Jack but terrified poor Abby.   (Thanks Daddy!)

It was nice simple day as a family and some great memories for the kids. Now to get ready for the start of kindergarten, which I still cannot believe.  Enjoying the last few weeks of summer and watching my kids grow up so fast before my eyes.  : )
